coil winding process

When you imagine the electricity, most of it comes to your mind are things like bright shining Light Bulbs Wise and your Phone charger etc.... These devices, which allow us to harness electricity for everyday use are... But did you know that deeper down within the innards of these devices there are tiny gears working away to keep things running? Those coils are made using a process called coil winding, and this article will be digging deep into it.

Coil winding is the process of taking a long piece of wire and wrapping it loosely around an object known as the core until you end up with a coil. Think about tying a string around the female end of a pencil. The winding has a wire, which is generally fabricated with conductive materials such as Copper or Aluminium. These metals were selected for their superb conductive properties, which means they allow electricity to travel through them amazingly well. The center that the wire coils around is called a core and can be made of many types like plastic, ceramic or metals. The form of a nucleus can also be changed, however it is usually round shape and may appear like cylinder or even as donut.

Importance of precision in the coil winding process

Precision and care are needed during coil production. The coils may contain gaps or holes if the wire is not wrapped tight enough. These gaps are able to cause the coil not to work at its fullest potential, these walls might now be as good conductors of electricity as they should. Conversely, a wire wrapped too snugly can result in the coil heating up excessively. This will then go to regular high too much hot this can eventually melt back insulation which is actually material shield the wire. Failure of the insulation can cause short circuits and, in the extreme case, a fire. As a result, coil winding has to be very precise so that all the different components work together safely and effectively!
